Raptors Recap (June 9): Ridgefield 4, Yakima Valley 1
Highlights - Three pitchers combined to hold Yakima Valley to four hits as the Raptors opened a three-game home series by earning their fourth consecutive win. With the game tied 1-1, Ridgefield opened the bottom of the sixth with four consecutive singles to set the stage for a three-run inning.
At the plate - Ridgefield LF Zach Wadas (Loyola Marymount) broke the 1-1 tie with a two-run single on a 1-2 count. ... Raptors DH Cade Ladehoff (Michigan) went 2 for 3. He is 4 for 7 over his last two games, raising his batting average to .300.... Six hitters accounted for Ridgefield's seven base hits, all singles.
On the mound - Ridgefield starter August Ware (Oregon State) was solid in his first outing of the season. The 6-foot-5 left-hander went six innings with eight strikeouts, allowing three hits and four walks....Max Schneider (Loyola Marymount) pitched two scoreless innings, striking out five while allowing two walks and no hits....Caiden Thomsen (Linn-Benton) pitched the ninth inning for his first save of the season.
Next up - The Raptors (7-3) continue the three-game series against the Yakima Valley Pippins (6-3) at Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex. First pitch is 6:35 p.m. Wednesday's game is Ridgefield School District Night - all RSD students, teachers and staff get in free with a valid ID.
