Walla Walla Sweets win pair of series to open home schedule

The 2026 Walla Walla Sweets, seeking the West Coast League franchise's first winning season since 2019, recovered from a season-opening series loss with back-to-back series wins over Corvallis and Bend at Borleske Stadium.

The Sweets commence a six-game, Canadian road swing on Tuesday in Kelowna against the Falcons. A three-game set in Kamloops will follow at the end of the week.

June 7: Sweets 13, Bend 1

Walla Walla scored three times in the third inning, put up a four-spot in the fifth, and added five more runs in the sixth inning as it completed a weekend sweep of the Elks.

The Sweets had just eight hits in the game, but benefited from 10 walks by Bend pitchers.

Trevor Tse and Isaac Torres, who had three runs batted in, had two hits apiece for Walla Walla. Five Sweets pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts. Starter Curtis Ellis delivered four innings and gave up one run and five hits. Ellis and Jacob Talbott, the first of four Sweets relievers to appear in the game, struck out four batters apiece.

June 6: Sweets 10, Bend 6

An eight-run fourth inning powered Walla Walla to a series-clinching victory over the Elks.

Sam Kane and Landon Young stroked RBI doubles in the inning while Payton Knowles, Mateo Rickman, Ethan Buckley, and Bo Stinson cracked RBI singles.

Buckley also added a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Starting pitcher Tre Morse gave up one earned run over four innings for Walla Walla. Easton Corey, the first of three Sweets relievers employed in the game, yielded one hit over the next two frames.

June 5: Sweets 7, Bend 2

Three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings keyed a winning Walla Walla effort in the series opener against its opponent from central Oregon.

Sweets starter Dexter Kauahi pitched seven innings and surrendered two runs and three hits. Reliever Charlie Seneker pitched two innings of hitless relief and K'd three for Walla Walla. Knowles belted a game-tying double in the fifth inning (2-2) and Austin Owens mashed a two-run homer in the sixth that put the Sweets in front 6-2.

June 4: Corvallis 6, Sweets 4

The Sweets coughed up three ninth-inning runs and lost the series finale to the Knights.

Charles Rogers III tossed six solid innings for Walla Walla in which he was touched up for just a run and three hits. He struck out eight and walked one. Tse, Nate Petz, and Logan Nokamura had two base knocks each for the Sweets, who outhit Corvallis, 12-7.

June 3: Sweets 8, Corvallis 3

Four sixth-inning tallies propelled Walla Walla to conquest.

Andrew Demianew had three hits to pace the Sweets. Owens had a two-run hit and Buckley chipped in with an RBI single. Pitcher Anthony Leo had a one-run, three-hit effort in four-and-two-thirds innings of work for Walla Walla. Trevor Stowe gave up one hit over the next two-and-a-third innings and teammate Carson Mckinney hurled a scoreless ninth.

June 2: Sweets 5, Corvallis 3

Walla Walla scored three game-deciding runs in the sixth inning to the delight of a paid home-opening crowd of 1,821.

Nakamura connected for a two-run double in the sixth for the Sweets and Knowles had an RBI single.
