Packers WR Christian Watson Reveals Goals After $92.5 Million Extension
The Green Bay Packers made a lofty investment when handing wide receiver Christian Watson a four-year, $92.5 million extension. According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, escalators could make the deal worth up to $110.5 million.
It's a move that has garnered some criticism due to his lack of production. Since being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former North Dakota State Bison has accumulated 133 receptions for 2,264 yards and 20 touchdowns.
He has also struggled to stay healthy. Watson has never appeared in all 17 games of a season, and last year missed the first seven games while recovering from a torn ACL.
Despite that, the 27-year-old isn't lacking in confidence before the 2026 NFL season. While speaking to reporters after practice on Tuesday, Watson shared his lofty goals going into his fifth year with the Packers.
"I try not to look into, you know, the number stuff too much," Watson said in a video posted by USA Today's Ryan Wood. "I try to take it week by week, but you know, if I'm really searching, then I'm going to have to set some personal goals, but I definitely want to have double-digit touchdowns, and I want to have over 1,100 yards."

Reaching both of those goals would shatter career highs. As of now, the most receiving yards he's ever racked up in a single season is 620 (2024) and the most touchdowns are seven (2022).
However, he has shown flashes of emerging as a true No. 1 target for quarterback Jordan Love. Last year, Watson earned a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 86.7, which ranked eighth out of 81 qualified wide receivers.
With 1,100+ yards and at least 10 touchdowns on his mind, Watson is aiming to break out after earning his big payday.
