Rachel DeMita's NBA Finals Prediction Is Aging Incredibly Poorly

Rachel DeMita's NBA Finals prediction is trending on social media heading into Game 3 on Monday night.

The former college basketball player turned sports media personality, who covers the NBA and the WNBA, made it clear that she felt that the Knicks had no chance of taking down the Spurs. In fact, she claims to have made a $5,000 wager on the NBA Finals MVP, betting against Jalen Brunson winning. Brunson was listed as a 30 percent favorite to win the NBA Finals MVP heading into the series.

"Am I crazy or is this line completely wrong?" she said in a betting promotion.

"The Knicks haven't been tested yet and when Wemby and the Spurs roll right through them, this whole Jalen Brunson for MVP conversation is going to sound kind of silly."

The series isn't over yet, but the Knicks are leading the Spurs, 2-0. Karl-Anthony Towns has probably been the Knicks' most important player so far, but there are still two more games to go (at least).

Brunson, the de facto leader of the Knicks team, could emerge as the clear favorite to win NBA Finals MVP with a big game or two at home.

Brunson is staying focused, by the way

Brunson has little interest in getting ahead of himself right now.

"I think the way I carry myself, the way I do things, is a credit to how I was raised by my parents," he said before Game 3. "But also part of their philosophy I think seeps into the Mamba Mentality, as well. So, there's a connectivity there.

"I do my best to stay present in the moment, to do the things I can to make sure my mind is right. Being mentally and physically ready every day. Trusting my work. That's what's gotten me here."

Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals is set for Monday night at 8:30 p.m. E.T.
