Lionel Messi's Wife Sends Clear Message Before 2026 World Cup

Lionel Messi may be 38 entering the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but he’s still the most decorated player in world football history.

And Antonela Roccuzzo, Messi‘s wife since 2017, doesn’t want you to forget it.

Roccuzzo posted an Instagram carousel on Sunday, and the final slide is a video showing her wearing a KITH graphic tee of Messi cradling his face with rings on every finger.

The shirt is from the larger Kith & Messi for Adidas Football collection, which can be found here.

Messi captured his first World Cup title with Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and it was the final piece of his iconic legacy’s puzzle. Or so we thought.

Messi has continued to add pieces after joining Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer in July 2023. He is currently the reigning back-to-back MLS MVP, and Inter Miami are the reigning MLS Cup champions. In March, Messi netted his 900th career goal, joining Cristiano Ronaldo as the only men’s players to eclipse 900 goals.

And Messi is still the most dangerous player on Argentina’s roster. This marks Messi’s sixth World Cup appearance - a joint record with Ronaldo and Guillermo Ochoa, per BBC Sport - and his can unexpectedly balloon his legend once again if Argentina can become the third-ever country to repeat as World Cup champions. It hasn’t been done since Brazil in 1958 and 1962, per ESPN.

Argentina will open its title defense against Algeria at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 16. Messi and company will round out Group J play against Austria on June 22 and against Jordan on June 27 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
