Tennis Community Bothered By Alexander Zverev's French Open Win
The tennis community doesn't appear to be thrilled with Alexander Zverev's French Open win on Sunday.
Zverev, one of the top players in the world, had yet to win a Grand Slam. He had to deal with the likes of Nadal, Federer and Djokovic when he was coming up. Now, he has to deal with the likes of Sinner and Alcaraz.
But Alcaraz was forced to miss Roland Garros due to injury and Sinner was upset very early in the tournament. This opened the door for a deep run for Zverev. And he did not disappoint.
Zverev topped Flavio Cobolli in the men's final at the French Open on Sunday. He won in five straight sets.
While Zverev got his first Grand Slam win on Sunday, several in the tennis community sounded off on his victory, making it clear that they don't seem to be the biggest fans of his right now.
Tennis fans were rooting against Zverev on Sunday
Tennis fans are ready for Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner to get back to top form, it seems.
"Group hug to all Tennis fans," one fan wrote following Zverev's win.
"I don't like him either but feel everyone is getting too political about him winning a slam," one fan added.
"Bad day for sports if you're a Leclerc or Verstappen fan and a Zverev hater," one fan added.
"Alexander Zverev is an inspiring story finally proving to all future tennis players that you can achieve your dreams if the 3 best players in the world get hurt and the weather is bad," one fan said sarcastically.
"Zverev is an absolute bad person. It's shameful that ATP is promoting this man," one fan added.
