Is Neymar Playing Tonight for Brazil vs Egypt?

Brazil will conclude their preparations for this summer's World Cup with a friendly match against Egypt at Huntington Bank Field in Ohio on Saturday.

The five-time world champions head into the game after an impressive 6-2 victory over Panama in their previous warm-up match.

While Brazil remain one of the strongest teams in international football, recent World Cup campaigns have brought disappointing results having been eliminated in the quarter-finals in four of the last five editions of the tournament.

Despite a difficult CONMEBOL qualifying campaign, Brazil are still regarded as one of the favourites for the World Cup. The arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as head coach has added fresh optimism as the team prepares for the competition.

Egypt, meanwhile, are getting ready for only their fourth World Cup appearance.

The Pharaohs previously qualified for the tournament in 1934, 1990 and 2018, and they will view this friendly as an important opportunity to test themselves against one of the tournament favourites before the World Cup begins.

Will Neymar Play Against Egypt?

No, Neymar will not play for Brazil in their pre-World Cup friendly against Egypt.

The forward remained at Brazil's training base in New Jersey to continue intensive treatment on a calf injury and did not travel with the rest of the squad to Cleveland for the match.

Although the 34-year-old was included in Brazil's 26-man World Cup squad, the medical staff are focusing on his recovery with the aim of having him available for Brazil's opening World Cup match against Morocco.

Speaking about Neymar's selection, Ancelotti explained why the veteran remains an important figure within the squad.

"He has experience in this kind of competition, the love of our group, he can create a better environment in this group."

Brazil will therefore be without one of their most experienced players against Egypt.
