Jalen Brunson Addresses Victor Wembanyama's Crucial Mistake in Game 2

Jalen Brunson knocked down the go-ahead free throw that secured the New York Knicks' 105-104 Game 2 win on Friday. It came after San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama's turnover, and his foul on the superstar guard that sent Brunson to the free-throw line.

During the postgame presser, the three-time All-Star shared his thoughts on Wembanyama's crucial mistake.

Brunson missed a jumper, which would've given his team the lead. Wembanyama secured the rebound and passed the ball to Stephon Castle. However, the second-year guard had his back to the ball, leading to a Brunson steal.

Reporters asked Brunson to share what went through his mind during the pivotal sequence. He highlighted that the turnover completely surprised him and that he felt fortunate to have had the chance to shoot free throws with 9.5 seconds remaining.

"Yeah, I saw he wasn't looking, so I just tried to go get it," Brunson said. "Didn't know if it was going to go out of bounds. I just didn't want Wemby to come back and get it. And just had to secure the ball. And got fouled and went to the free-throw line."

Wembanyama and the Spurs had an opportunity to win on Friday, but the 22-year-old missed a jump shot at the buzzer.

New York escaped with the victory and will return home armed with a 2-0 series advantage. Knicks fans are expected to cheer their hearts out and push their team to a championship. The franchise could secure the title at home via a sweep, as Games 3 and 4 will take place at Madison Square Garden.
