Washington Huskies football host 14 prospects for official visits this weekend

There are fewer than 100 days remaining until Washington football takes the field for its season-opening Apple Cup matchup with Washington State on Sept. 6.

But the football calendar never truly rests. Recruiting season is now fully underway, with top football prospects traveling across the country for official visits. And after hosting eight players during the past weekend, the Huskies are welcoming an even larger group to Seattle for this weekend.

Washington will host 14 players on Montlake for official visits, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Seattle Times.

Eight are already pledged to the Huskies: wide receiver Braylon Pope, tight end Zach Albright, defensive tackle Jon Ioane, defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei, linebacker Ethan Coach, linebacker Justin Coach, linebacker Isaiah Leilua and safety Isala Aisa Wily-Ava. Pope, Ioane and Wily-Ava are blue-chip prospects, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

And after hosting just three uncommitted recruits May 29, Washington will welcome six unattached prospects this weekend. So here's a roundup of the players UW hopes to make a good impression with starting Saturday.

S Jaden Walk-Green - Centennial High, Corona, Calif.

Washington and safeties coach Taylor Mays have already landed a safety with their preferred box-safety frame. Wily-Ava, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety from Southern California powerhouse St. John Bosco High, committed to UW in May.

But the Huskies don't have a post safety in their 2027 recruiting class. Enter Jaden Walk-Green, a composite four-star safety out of Centennial High in Corona, Calif. He's the No. 35 safety, No. 30 player in California and the No. 349 player nationally.

Listed at 5-11, 180 pounds, Walk-Green was an undeniable ball magnet during a standout junior season. He snagged 10 interceptions and recovered a fumble in 13 games, according to MaxPreps, to go along with 125 tackles.

Walk-Green, who also plays baseball at Centennial, named Washington in his final four with Arizona State, UCLA and Vanderbilt on Friday and plans to announce his decision June 20.

CB Evan Mack - Crean Lutheran High, Irvine, Calif.

A year ago, the Huskies loaded up on defensive backs. Secondary coach John Richardson signed four cornerbacks during the 2026 recruiting cycle: Rahsjon Duncan, Elijah Durr, Ksani Jiles and Jeron Jones.

So the Huskies have been more selective during the 2027 cycle. Washington holds a pledge from local Graham-Kapowsin High standout Maurice Williams, but he's currently UW's lone cornerback commit.

Richardson is hosting a pair of cornerbacks this weekend, starting with Crean Lutheran High's Evan Mack. A 6-3, 175-pound defensive back who spent his first two seasons of high school football at Wilson High in Long Beach, Mack, a composite three-star prospect, made 49 tackles, deflected 10 passes and grabbed two interceptions during his first season at Crean Lutheran.

He's the No. 59 cornerback, the No. 46 player in California and the No. 593 player nationally. Perhaps most interestingly, Mack has a comparable physical frame to former Husky cornerbacks Ephesians Prysock and Tacario Davis when they were high school prospects. Mack, who also plays basketball, unofficially visited UW back in June. He previously visited Arizona State in May.

CB Censere Gaylord - IMG Academy, Bradenton, Fla.

Mack won't be the only cornerback on campus this weekend. Censere Gaylord, a composite four-star cornerback from Florida powerhouse IMG Academy, is also visiting Seattle.

The 6-0, 190-pound defensive back, who started his high school tenure at Bishop Alemany High in Southern California, is the No. 21 cornerback, the No. 17 player in Florida and the No. 163 player nationally. He named Washington in his final four along with Georgia Tech, Georgia and Auburn in April.

Only two UW commits - quarterback Blake Roskopf and wide receiver Tre Moore - are currently rated higher than Gaylord. Additionally, adding the defensive back would continue Washington's three-year stretch of signing an IMG Academy prospect.

The Huskies landed wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright from IMG Academy during the 2025 recruiting cycle, then signed Jiles in 2026. Gaylord already completed his official visit at Georgia Tech, and will take trips to Georgia and Auburn before making his decision, according to a post on his social media accounts.

EDGE Josh Christensen - Lake Oswego High, Lake Oswego, Ore.

Washington has certainly enjoyed some recent success recruiting on the other side of the Columbia River. During the 2025 cycle, the Huskies signed tight ends Baron Naone and Austin Simmons, along with defensive tackle Dominic Macon from Oregon. A year later, UW added running back Ansu Sanoe and tight end Sam Vyhlidal.

The Huskies do not currently have an Oregon native committed, but UW gets a chance to impress edge rusher Josh Christensen, a 6-6, 250-pound edge rusher from Lake Oswego, Ore., this weekend.

Christensen, a composite three-star prospect, is the No. 5 player in Oregon, the No. 121 edge rusher and the No. 1,575 player nationally. He was teammates with Vyhlidal during the past season at Lake Oswego High.

The Oregon native has enjoyed a busy recruiting season. He holds five Big Ten offers, and has already taken visits to Illinois and Oklahoma, with trips planned to Oregon and Northwestern.

Christensen also plays a position of need for UW. Washington, which holds three defensive tackle pledges, has no commits from an edge rusher for 2027. And UW's only edge rusher signee from 2026, local Kennedy Catholic High standout Derek Colman-Brusa, is moving inside at the college level.

WR Osani Gayles - IMG Academy, Bradenton, Fla.

For four seasons, spanning time at Arizona and Washington, Stockton, Calif., native Jonah Coleman was the vocal champion of everything coach Jedd Fisch and his coaching staff were trying to build.

Coleman departed for the NFL after the past season, but Fisch has a chance to add another Stockton standout in wide receiver Osani Gayles.

A 5-11 1/2, 185-pound wide receiver who transferred to IMG Academy from Stockton's St. Mary's High in 2025, Gayles is the No. 8 wide receiver, No. 6 player in Florida and the No. 48 player nationally. He's a composite four-star prospect, just hovering below five-star status. He named Washington in his final five programs along with Alabama, Stanford, Tennessee and Notre Dame.

UW wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings already has commitments from composite four-star wideouts Moore, Pope and Dontay Tyson Jr., who announced his pledge to UW on Friday evening. Adding Gayles to the mix, along with composite three-star prospect Zerek Sidney, would make this one of the highest-rated wide receiver classes in UW's recent history.

QB Caden Jones - Crean Lutheran High, Irvine, Calif.

Crean Lutheran will be well represented on UW's campus this weekend. Along with Mack, Washington is hosting Saints quarterback Caden Jones. A composite three-star prospect, the 6-3, 185-pound right-handed signal caller is the No. 36 quarterback, the No. 45 player in California and the No. 593 player nationally.

The Huskies already have one quarterback commit - Roskopf, currently UW's top-rated recruit - but may face significant attrition after the current season. Especially if players are granted a fifth year of eligibility, potentially locking in an extra year for starter Demond Williams Jr.

If junior Elijah Brown or redshirt freshmen Treston "Kini" McMillan and Dash Beierly decide to look for playing time at another program, bringing in two quarterbacks in this class makes some sense.

And Jones, who also plays basketball like Mack, was productive in 2025. He passed for 3,044 yards and 30 touchdowns against just one interception while adding 261 yards rushing.
