NBA Recognizes Jalen Brunson Milestone Before NBA Finals Game 2

Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks to victory in Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals, scoring a game-high 30 points against the San Antonio Spurs.

13 of Brunson’s 30 points came in the fourth quarter as the Knicks closed the series-opening contest on an 11-0 run to secure a 105-95 final score at San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center.

Brunson, nicknamed “Captain Clutch,” continues to prove himself as a player to rely on in crunch time.

Brunson has 144 playoff clutch points since 2023, more than any other player by a significant margin. The next-highest player is reigning back-to-back league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has 84 clutch points for the Oklahoma City Thunder since 2023.

The next-leading players in terms of playoff clutch scoring are Nikola Jokic (69), Jayson Tatum (65), James Harden (55) and Jimmy Butler (55).

“CAPTAIN CLUTCH,” the NBA wrote on social media. “Fresh off his 30-point (13 in the 4Q) NBA Finals debut, Jalen Brunson has the MOST Playoff clutch points (144) since 2023!”
