Samantha Busch Shares Heartbreaking Letter Weeks After Kyle Busch's Death
Samantha Busch, the widow of Kyle Busch, has released a statement just weeks after the NASCAR legend's death.
The NASCAR community lost Kyle Busch on May 21. He passed away at the age of 41 due to severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. Prior to his death, he was found unresponsive while in the Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina.
"Throughout a career that spanned more than two decades, Kyle set records in national series wins, won championships at NASCAR's highest level and fostered the next generation of drivers as an owner in the Truck Series," NASCAR said. "His sharp wit and competitive spirit sparked a deep emotional connection with race fans of every age, creating the proud and loyal ‘Rowdy Nation.' Our thoughts are with Samantha, Brexton and Lennix, Kyle and Samantha's parents, Kurt and all of Kyle's family, Richard and Judy Childress, everyone at Richard Childress Racing, his teammates, friends and fans. NASCAR lost a giant of the sport today, far too soon. During this incredibly difficult time, we ask everyone to respect the family's privacy and continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Further updates will be shared as appropriate."
On Friday morning, Samantha Busch issued a heartfelt statement regarding this tragic situation.
Samantha thanked everyone for all the prayers and kind messages she has received.
"As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God's presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you," she wrote.
"The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people. There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone.
"From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well. Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him. We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful."
Honoring Kyle Busch's legacy.
Richard Childress Racing has already announced that Busch's No. 8 vehicle will be exclusively reserved for Brexton.
"Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR's stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry. No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing."
Brexton, meanwhile, was spotted at Charlotte Motor Speedway earlier this week. It appears he's ready to carry his father's legacy into the future.
