Caitlin Clark Ties Her Own WNBA Record in Fever Win Over Dream

The Indiana Fever got back on track in their first WNBA Commissioner's Cup game on Thursday night, defeating the Atlanta Dream 83-71 to improve to 5-4 on the season.

Indiana was led by a 25-point performance from Kelsey Mitchell, while Aliyah Boston added 19 points. Superstar Caitlin Clark contributed 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds in the victory.

Clark also tied her own WNBA record during the contest, becoming the fastest player in league history to reach 150 points and 50 assists in a season. She accomplished the feat in just eight games played, matching the mark she set during her rookie campaign last year.

Clark appeared in just 13 games last season after suffering a season-ending groin injury shortly before the All-Star break. The event was especially disappointing given that the WNBA All-Star Game was held in Indianapolis, with Clark set to serve as one of the team captains.

After never missing a game during her collegiate career at Iowa and appearing in all 40 games as a rookie, Clark’s sophomore WNBA season was derailed by injuries. While she’s off to an excellent start this year, she has continued to appear on the injury report for much of the season, primarily due to lingering back soreness she has been managing.

This season, Clark is averaging 19.8 points, 8.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 38.7% from the field and 32.3% from beyond the arc.

Clark and the Fever will be back in action on Saturday night for their second Commissioner's Cup game when they travel to New York to take on the Liberty at 8 p.m. ET.
