The Jack State Foundation will continue partnering with the Lewis County Tennis Association (LCTA) to provide the second of two free tennis clinics from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, at the Jack State Tennis Courts located behind W.F. West High School.

The first clinic was held on Saturday, May 16.

The upcoming clinic is for beginners to tennis and is geared toward students in kindergarten through eighth grade. It will be led by W.F. West alum and local teaching professional T.J. Underwood, the tennis director at the Thorbeckes Athletic Club.

The invitational will include gathering with friends, telling stories and being on the court, "some of Jack's favorite things," according to event organizers.

The Jack State Foundation was founded in January 2024 by Kristin State Hutchinson and Kyle State when their dad, legendary W.F. West High School tennis coach Jack State, died at the age of 80.

State was a coach and physical education teacher in the Lewis County community for roughly 50 years. During that time, he led W.F. West boys and girls tennis, high school basketball, Chehalis Middle School basketball and Centralia College men's basketball teams to success.

"The Jack State Foundation is dedicated to empowering student athletes, ensuring access to sports is never hindered by finances, and granting young people the opportunity to play," Kristin State Hutchinson said.
