Aaron Judge Injury Update: Yankees Make Announcement on Star Right Fielder
New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge has been absent for his team's past two games against the Cleveland Guardians, including Wednesday night's 5-4 defeat. Before Tuesday's game, Judge had been in the starting lineup for all of New York's 59 games, as he has been one of the most consistent players in Major League Baseball in recent years.
Judge initially felt discomfort in his upper body during the Yankees' series against the Athletics over the weekend, and after initial results from imaging, he was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right rib cage. However, New York said that he has felt the pain in his right shoulder when swinging.
The Yankees have not ruled out putting Judge on the injured list at some point, according to MLB.com reporter Bryan Hoch, but he is currently considered day-to-day. Judge has been on the IL only once over the past three seasons, when he had a right flexor strain last July.
On Wednesday, after New York's second consecutive loss to the Guardians, Yankees manager Aaron Boone gave an update on Judge's next step in his injury process.
"Aaron Judge is being sent for more imaging on 'more specific spots' in his right ribcage, Aaron Boone said," according to Hoch. "We just want clarity on exactly what we're dealing with."

Before sustaining this injury, the three-time American League MVP was having another great season at the plate. He has put up a slash line of .248/.375/.533 with an OPS of .907, totaling 17 home runs and 38 RBIs.
While the uncertainty of Judge's condition continues, the Yankees are hoping for him to return, as they are currently just one game back of the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the AL East.
