Packers Star Micah Parsons Could Miss Serious Time This NFL Season
In an age where players seem to healing from torn ACLs and multi-year injuries faster than ever before, Green Bay Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons could be up against the clock to finish healing up in time to start Week 1 of the 2026 season.
According to ESPN NFL Nation Packers reporter Rob Demovsky, Parsons has stated that he has another four months of rehab left before he's cleared to play. He revealed that he had to get a procedure done on his meniscus as well as his ACL.
"Five months into his ACL rehab, Micah Parsons said he has four more months to go, saying that they have a strict nine-month rule especially for players who had more than just the ACL tear, revealing that he also had a meniscus procedure," Demovsky wrote on X.
Such a timeline, if followed exactly as he described, would put his return to the field closer to early-October than mid-September, which would mean potentially missing as many as three or four games.
Per the report, Parsons has stated that he is less worried about rushing back and more about being healthy enough for when the Packers make the playoffs.
"Parsons stressed that it's not about how quickly he wants to come back: 'The goal for me is to complete the seaso … the goal has always been playoffs.'"
Parsons in 2026
Last year the Packers made an absolutely massive splash by trading for Parsons during training camp, bringing the all-world pass rusher into the fold in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys.
For most of 2025, the Packers were dominant with Parsons. He had 12.5 sacks in 14 games and went on earn First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors while finishing third in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.
But Parsons' absence was strongly felt in the playoffs as they went one-and-done against the rival Chicago Bears.
While not the first injury that he's suffered, the ACL-meniscus injury combo is a rough one that has slowed the career of many elite talents to a crawl.
The Packers can probably consider themselves fortunate if Parsons is able to even dress for 12 games this season, let alone enjoy a sixth-straight season of 12 or more sacks.
