Former UFC Fighter Jay Silva Has Sadly Died At 45
UFC fans learned this week that mixed martial artist Jay Silva has died at the age of 45.
Silva has competed for Bellator, KSW, MFC and UFC during his career. He made his UFC debut in September 2009 against C.B. Dollaway. His most recent bout, meanwhile, was a loss to Denis Labryga in April 2025. Overall, he finished his career with a 12-13-1 record.
Although his cause of death hasn't been released at this time, Polish MMA promotion FAME confirmed that Silva is no longer with us.
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of FAME fighter Jay Silva. Through his performances, Jay brought a great smile, positive energy, and the professionalism of a true athlete," FAME wrote on social media. "He will forever remain a part of our federation's history! We extend our sincerest condolences to Jay's loved ones, family, and friends. Rest in peace."
UFC fans devastated over this loss.
"I can't believe this," one person said in response to the news.
"Hard news," a second person wrote. "Condolences to the family R.I.P."
"Only in such moments do one realize how fragile life is. Today we are here, tomorrow is promised to no one. Life is shorter than we think. That's why it's worth to be a good person," another person commented.
"Please keep his family in your prayers," a fan added.
Back in 2009, Silva said he wanted to be remembered as "the greatest fighter the world has ever seen." There's no question his fans will miss him.
May he rest in peace.
