Rams Changed the Narrative With Trent McDuffie Trade

The Los Angeles Rams were one step away from making it back to the Super Bowl for the 2025 season, but they fell to eventual Super Bowl champions the Seattle Seahawks. With quarterback Matthew Stafford playing some of the best ball of his career, they’re poised to make it all the way next season, God willing.

In a piece published on Wednesday, May 27, Mike Sando of The Athletic names his favorite moves for each NFL franchise during the league’s offseason.

“With most major NFL offseason moves complete, it’s a good time to single out a favorite move for each team,” he states in the feature. “This exercise is always easier for some teams than for others, so some of these ‘favorites’ are relative to what’s available.”

He gives the team kudos for their blockbuster move of acquiring cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs.

“The Rams had to fix their cornerback problem while Matthew Stafford remained in MVP form, which meant it had to be done as soon as possible,” he states in the piece. “The team correctly determined that the top cornerback in the draft, Mansoor Delane, would not be available to the Rams with the 13th pick in the first round. And so McDuffie became the Rams’ target.”

The Rams absolutely hit the ball out of the park with the McDuffie addition. He was a strong part of Kansas City, and they would have kept him, but because of money constraints, they just couldn’t. So, Los Angeles seized the opportunity and made this move, which should only help them get to the Super Bowl.
