Giants Have Found Their Game-Changer in John Harbaugh

The New York Giants are in the midst of a total rebuild, and John Harbaugh continues to prove that he’s focused on taking this team to the next level. During the offseason, he’s made blockbuster moves, including trading star defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals for a 2026 first-round pick and switching mid-round picks with the Cleveland Browns during the draft to snag Notre Dame wide receiver Malachi Fields.

As soon as the Giants hired Harbaugh, it was an instant win. His record during 18 seasons at the Ravens was 193-124, and his firing from Baltimore seemed more like a scapegoat situation than a head coaching problem. The Ravens’ 2025 season was sprinkled with injuries, especially with quarterback Lamar Jackson, and if Harbaugh’s team had been healthier, he could have gone much further.

So, the Ravens’ loss is the Giants’ gain, and hiring Harbaugh is already taking this franchise to the next level.

In a recent feature from Mike Sando of The Athletic, the reporter names his favorite moves for each NFL franchise during the league’s offseason.

He gives the team kudos for “raising the floor” by hiring Harbaugh.

“The Giants have mostly hired first-time head coaches (Pat Shurmur being the lone exception) since Tom Coughlin’s 12-year run ended more than a decade ago,” he states in the piece. “None had a winning record with the team. Harbaugh fits the Coughlin mold as a second-time head coach coming off a successful run elsewhere. Whether he raises the Giants' ceiling, and by how much, remains to be seen. But the floor should rise, at the very least, now that an experienced coach is in control.”

It’s not that Brian Daboll wasn’t an experienced coach, but the chemistry wasn’t there, and he certainly didn’t make the kind of bold moves that Harbaugh is making now. This 4-13 team needed a massive makeover, and they’re getting it with Harbaugh.
