TV Host Joy Reid Claims She's Done Rooting For Giants Because Of Jaxson Dart

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is quickly losing support this NFL offseason.

Dart was tremendous during his rookie season with the Giants, racking up 2,272 passing yards, 487 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns. Fans in New York are convinced he's got what it takes to become the franchise's first great quarterback since Eli Manning.

That being said, Dart has been heavily criticized over the past two weeks because he agreed to introduce President Donald Trump at a campaign event. He even received pushback from Giants pass rusher Abdul Carter.

"If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it's my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I'm against that but to show the world," Carter said. "And that doesn't mean that we have to spread hate. It doesn't mean that me and Jaxson hate each other or we have beef. I sit next to Jaxson every day. Every team meeting we're close, we talk, you know, we just - as long as we make sure we got the same goal as a team and our goals align, which they do, I feel like that's all that matters."

Former MSNBC host Joy Reid isn't as forgiving as Carter. The longtime political commentator claims she's done rooting for the Giants because Dart publicly supporter Trump.

"First of all he didn't say he was happy he said he was pleasured to meet the president. I'm pleasured to meet, like what does that even mean? First of all, he's an idiot. OK, but what do you mean 'you're pleasured to meet the president? Like, is English your first language? What are you saying? I  was really kind of repulsed as a Giants fan - former now - because the reality is Donald Trump is not a normal president," Reid said, via Daily Mail. "Donald Trump is not an American president. Donald Trump is a wannabe king. And we're in the 250th anniversary of our divorce from the king of England. And Donald Trump is trying to be a king."

Dart defends his decision.

While at the team's facility last Friday, Dart was asked about introducing Trump at Rockland Community College.

"This was a unique opportunity. You know, being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States, you know, my thinking was pretty simple. And the fact of, you know, I've always loved this country. I have extended family members who have fought in wars. I have two uncles who have retired from the Air Force Academy, and served themselves. And I have a great grandfather who served as Secretary of Treasury at some point. So the president position has always been a position that I have always respected, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political party, and my intentions were just that," Dart told reporters.

"I also understand in this world, politics can be a sensitive matter, a sensitive topic. I also understand that I am the quarterback of the New York Giants, and that involves a lot of responsibility. It's under a limelight, under a microscope, and there's a lot that comes with that, and it's been something that I've embraced. … Most importantly, I can honestly say that I love every single one of my brothers, my teammates on this team regardless of politics, regardless of religious beliefs, regardless of anything that may be different between us. Like, I love them and they know exactly what kind of person that I am, who comes into the facility every day."

At the end of the day, Dart has the power to silence his critics with his play. If he continues to produce at a high level, the Giants won't mind all the offseason drama.
