Fans Pushing For Change To 'Unfair' French Open After Naomi Osaka's Loss

Tennis fans are accusing the 2026 French Open of having an "unfair" draw in the wake of Naomi Osaka's loss on Monday.

Osaka, 28, fell to world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on Monday, in the fourth round at the French Open. Sabalenka looked dominant, securing a straight-sets (7-5, 6-3) victory to move on to the quarterfinals. It was a disappointing showing for Osaka.

"You know, I kind of realized like… I don't know if you knew me before, but I would be very very disappointed in myself after matches like these. But I kinda realized it doesn't matter at all. I've played her multiple times and sadly to say lost multiple times. The only thing I can keep doing is trying l my best," Osaka said following the match.

"Maybe hopefully it'll work out in my favor one day. But I can't let myself be discouraged every time I lose to someone or win against someone. Because honestly, hitting a ball doesn't really matter, like, on Earth, kind of."

But her fans have a different feeling.

Osaka's fans are accusing the French Open of giving world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka an unfair draw. They didn't like how Osaka had to go up against Sabalenka so early in the tournament. They believe Sabalenka has been given an easy path to a Grand Slam title, as well.

Fans have been sounding off on the "unfair" draw online.

Fans think the draw was "unfair."

"The rigged draws injustice that always conveniently benefits fakelenko are blatantly unfair. This will be her real match and it happens R4. Totally rigged!" one fan wrote.

"Why is this match happening in R4? So unfair," another added.

"Change the drawing system, this is ridiculous," another added.

"Unfair to both players, honestly," one shared.

The rest of the French Open, meanwhile, will continue on Turner Sports on Tuesday, June 2, as the quarterfinals begin.
