Texas Teen Officially Faces Murder Charge For Track Meet Incident

Karmelo Anthony, the Texas teenager involved in a fatal fight at a state track meet last spring, is officially facing murder charges.

The trial for the teenager officially began on Monday. Anthony, who is from Texas, is facing murder charges. He is accused of fatally stabbing a fellow 17-year-old at a track meet last April 2025.

Anthony allegedly claims to have stabbed Austin Metcalf in self defense at the track meet, which took place in Frisco, Texas. Anthony alleges that Metcalf got physical with him, after being warned not to touch him. Anthony then allegedly pulled a knife from his bag and stabbed Metcalf.

Thousands of dollars ended up being donated to Anthony's family. A spokesman for the family said that the donations would allow contributors to "stand with us in the fight against white supremacy." The family received more than 70 different contributions to a GoFundMe for his trial defense and family support.
