Kelso's Ellie Treadway takes 2nd at state in javelin

TACOMA - Kelso's Ellie Treadway finished in second place at state in the 3A pole vault event during the 3A Girls Track & Field State Championships on Saturday at Mount Tahoma High School. The senior had a PR throw of 133 feet, 8 inches on her last attempt.

"It was great," Treadway said. "I feel amazing. I got to end it on a PR, so that was really special."

She said that during the meet, the idea of her taking home the title popped in her head.

"It was definitely a thought, but I know I had great competition out here," Treadway said. "People were ranked ahead of me and had higher throws, so I wasn't having all the pressure, but I knew someone could pop something."
