NCAA Tournament Umpire Ripped For 'Horrible' Elimination Game Ejection

An umpire in an NCAA Tournament elimination game on Sunday is getting ripped online for a controversial ejection.

Georgia was taking on Liberty in the Athens Regional on Sunday evening. Georgia, 2-0, was looking to secure a spot in the Regional Final, taking on 2-1 Liberty. The Bulldogs ended up getting the job done, winning 6-2 to advance the Athens Regional Final.

But that's not what people are talking about on Monday morning.

Instead, it's an ejection that took place during the game. Georgia star Tre Phelps hit a huge home run to give the Bulldogs the lead. However, as he was rounding the bases, he got ejected for trash talking.

Fans were immediately enraged.

"Horrible," one wrote.

"How many of these college kids are going to get tossed for excessive celebration? It's getting ridiculous and these coaches not to instill some respect and discipline in them," one added.

"Absolutely ridiculous to toss him for that. He's a college kid who just hit a massive home run. Baseball punishing raw emotion will be its downfall," one added.

"The rubber is finally hitting the road. They could and should have nipped this nonsense in the bud five years ago. It's the old give an inch a mile will be taken," one fan added.

Others, meanwhile, are defending the ejection

"I meannnnn he was asking for it," one shared.

"Aside from the lengthy stare, turning his back to the field to directly talk into Liberty's dugout, and specifically saying words to every infielder on his way around the bases, I'm not sure why this warrants an ejection," one added.

"1000% deserved Everyone wonders why youth baseball is such a (expletive) these days and it's because of behavior like this Not even a walk off dude, have some respect," one shared.

Was the ejection warranted or not?
