Indiana Fever Beat Writer Shuts Down Skip Bayless' Claim About Coach Stephanie White

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White had an intense moment with Caitlin Clark on Saturday's 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire. On the bench, White and Clark had a verbal exchange, which led to the coach to bench the star player and put rookie Raven Johnson on the floor.

White was criticized by fans online for her heated interaction with Clark. After what happened, longtime analyst Skip Bayless claimed that the Fever has made a decision about the coach's future. Bayless posted on X on Sunday that Indiana has moved on from White as a head coach. He said that the Fever has replaced her with Iowa coach Jan Jensen.

"No surprise: Stephanie White reportedly out after repeated in-game clashes with Caitlin Clark. Not saying White was wrong - but YOU CAN'T SHOW UP THE FACE OF THE LEAGUE ON CAMERA. Caitlin obviously wants a favorite of hers from Iowa, Jan Jensen. But no way Jensen can coach both," Bayless posted.

However, Chloe Peterson of IndyStarSports was quick to shut down the claims from Bayless. According to Peterson, the report is not accurate and that White is still the head coach of the Fever.

"For those that have seen Skip Bayless' tweet about reports of Stephanie White being let go from the Fever: I'm told there is absolutely no validity to that report," Peterson posted. "Stephanie White is still the head coach in Indiana."

Additionally, the Fever has not announced anything that is related to letting go of White.

Clark had one of her toughest games of the season against the Fire. She finished with six points and six assists on 1-for-7 shooting and was in foul trouble. Because she racked up five fouls, she was limited to just 21 minutes of playing time. After the contest, White addressed the star player's foul trouble, which played a major factor to their loss.

Clark has struggled to stay out of foul trouble over the past three games, and she has collected 14 fouls during that span. After their Saturday loss, White expressed her frustration of not having the team's primary ball handler because of foul troubles.

"Yeah, it's tough," White said. "I mean, it's tough when you have your primary ball handlers in foul trouble."

Even Clark knows that she needs to do a better job defensively.

"Officiating wasn't our problem tonight," she said.

The Fever will resume their season on Thursday and will host the Atlanta Dream.
