Packers Get a Back-Handed Compliment Heading Into 2026 NFL Season
The Green Bay Packers are hungry to get back to the Super Bowl, and they’ve made some smart offseason moves to improve their chances of getting there.
Now, it’s up to quarterback Jordan Love and company to stay healthy and deliver for their fanbase going into the new season.
Mike Sando of The Athletic named his favorite moves for each NFL franchise during the league’s offseason. For the Packers, he gives the team high praise for getting a 2027 fourth-round pick for edge-rusher Rashan Gary.
“It's tough to find moves that made the Packers better this offseason, so we'll single out a potential victory in the trade market,” he notes in the piece. “Most thought the Packers would release Gary, who said his Instagram account was hacked when it briefly carried a farewell to Green Bay while he was still on the team’s roster.
“Dallas, desperate for pass-rush help after trading Micah Parsons to the Packers last offseason, tried to acquire Maxx Crosby from the Raiders. The price paid for Gary was not steep, but it was something for the Packers in an offseason mostly about future flexibility.”

My Analysis: Were the Packers That Bad in the Offseason?
Sando is pretty down on the Packers, in general, for their offseason moves. That makes sense, because the team still has to find a way to properly protect Love and take care of their running back crisis.
But it wasn’t all bad, and that 2027 fourth-round selection is certainly a highlight. It’s a move that will set this franchise up for the future, but the more immediate concern is what happens for the 2026 season.
