Kylian Mbappé Under Fire After PSG Goes Back-to-Back as European Champions
Kylian Mbappé has made back-to-back World Cup finals with France, winning one, and is coming off a season with Real Madrid in which he scored 42 goals.
And there might not be anyone in France right now getting more backlash than the 27-year-old megastar.
Three seasons ago, Mbappé left Paris Saint-Germain F.C. to achieve his dream since he was a young child to play for the prestigious Real Madrid in Spain, leaving the French powerhouse without ever becoming European champions.
Mbappé led PSG to the Champions League Final in 2020 but came up short against Germany’s Bayern Munich.
After his controversial decision to leave for Spain, however, something funny happened: PSG hasn’t stopped winning European championships.
They did it last year in a romp over Inter Milan in the championship match, and on Saturday, PSG went back-to-back, defeating Arsenal in penalties to begin their own European dynasty.

Although Mbappé will be representing France on the global stage in two weeks at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, that hasn’t stopped PSG fans and the soccer community as a whole from taking jabs at the striker.
To make matters worse for Mbappé, thousands of PSG fans flooded the area near the Eiffel Tower to celebrate the back-to-back European title, cursing his name into the night.
The Real Madrid forward will have 16 days to shake off everything that happened in club play this year before facing Senegal in France’s opener to the World Cup at MetLife Stadium, which will also be where Mbappé hopes he ends his journey: the site of the World Cup Final.
