Paige Bueckers Praised For Response To 'Pressure' Of Being WNBA Star

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers faces more pressure than ever before now that she's fast becoming one of the WNBA's most popular players. But while the challenge of performing amid all of the expectations may be tough, it's a challenge she embraces.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Bueckers was asked about what the downsides of getting more and more attention as a WNBA star are. Bueckers responded that while it may be frustrating to see more cameras everywhere and being overanalyzed, she welcomes the challenge and accepts that it's also "a privilege."

"The people constantly in your business… the paranoia of always being recorded… knowing every single move you make is going to get analyzed. On the human side, it's not ideal… but pressure is a privilege. To have so many people look up to me, I really take that with pride," Bueckers said.

Praise for Bueckers

Bueckers' comments have earned plenty of praise from WNBA fans for her thoughtful remarks. They particularly liked the fact that she invoked the great Billy Jean King's "pressure is a privilege" line to make her point.

"Great question with an even better answer. Sounds like she has been waiting for a question like this. It's a good reminder to fans that athletes are human and deserve to have their private space protected. Record them during games but leave their personal lives out of it," one user replied.

"Great answer by Paige to a delicate question!" a second wrote.

"No human should have their privacy decimated and violated just because they're professionally talented, whether that's in sports or any other entertainment field. The pressure is a privilege, but privacy should be nonnegotiable," wrote another.

"What a great response."

"She's so well spoken."

Bueckers is rapidly climbing the ranks of the best and most popular players in the WNBA. In 2025 she won - in the span of less than eight months - an NCAA title, All-Star honors, the Rookie of the Year award and countless other honors, turning her into a national sensation heading into 2026.

She started the year off by earned First-Team honors in the Unrivaled league, and is already off to a strong start to her second year in the WNBA.
