Giants RB Cam Skattebo Does Backflip 7 Months After Suffering Brutal Injury

Last October, New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo celebrated one of his three touchdowns with a backflip during the Giants’ upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Two weeks later, the Eagles hosted the Giants, and Skattebo suffered a season-ending dislocated ankle that was so gruesome that it was “considered an emergency medical situation because it involved an open dislocation,” per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan at the time.

Almost exactly seven months after that, Skattebo is back to backflipping.

Raanan posted videos on X from Giants edge rusher Brian Burns’ celebrity softball game that showed Skattebo smashing a home run and casually jogging around the bases before unleashing his signature backflip at home plate.

Skattebo was present at the Giants’ OTAs last week. The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reported Friday that Skattebo was “suited up but not practicing,” and he was seen “getting coached up” by the Giants’ newly hired offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.

The Giants selected Skattebo out of Arizona State in the fourth round (No. 105 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft. He recorded 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 rush attempts and 207 yards and two touchdowns on 24 receptions before his season ended in Week 9.

The Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll after the team started 2-8 last season. They finished the season with a 4-13 record. After the Baltimore Ravens fired longtime head coach John Harbaugh, he quickly found a new home in New York.

Harbaugh’s Ravens teams were known for their physicality and, oftentimes, run-first offensive identity. Harbaugh brought that mentality with him to the Meadowlands, so Skattebo will be a key piece in 2026.
