Dylan Cease's Latest Injury Update is Positive for Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Dylan Cease has had a very successful season in 2026, however he ran into a speed bump during his last outing. Cease was removed from the game in the fifth inning last Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to an injury to his left hamstring.

The following day, he was officially placed on the 15-day injured list by the Blue Jays with a left hamstring strain. Since then, there have been multiple positive updates from Toronto on the recovery of their right-hander.

On Friday, Sportsnet reporter Arden Zwelling revealed that Cease's hamstring was starting to feel better after he played catch for a couple days.

The latest update on Cease's recovery came before the Blue Jays take on the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, as Zwelling reported that the 30-year-old is throwing a bullpen to see how he will feel.

"Dylan Cease (hamstring) is throwing a bullpen on Saturday in Baltimore; likely around 25-30 pitches," Zwelling said. "Next step could be another bullpen or facing hitters, depending on how he responds."

This is good news for Blue Jays fans, as it seems that Cease is progressing rather quickly from an injury that could have kept him out of the rotation for an extended period of time.

Before his injury, Cease was having a solid year for Toronto. In 11 starts, Cease has a 3-3 record, pitching to a 3.05 ERA with an American League-leading 92 strikeouts and 26 walks in 62 innings.

After Cease throws his bullpen on Saturday, the Blue Jays will see how he reacts to figure out what the next step will be.
