Fever Rookie Raven Johnson Points to Stephanie White After Career Game

Indiana Fever rookie Raven Johnson talks about the role of coach Stephanie White in her career night.

One of the biggest silver linings for the Indiana Fever in their 90-88 defeat to the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday was Johnson's performance, as the rookie had her best scoring output.

The No. 10 pick from the 2026 WNBA Draft finished with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and added four boards and two dimes.

But this high-scoring outing from Johnson failed to convert into a win. During her post-game interview, the former South Carolina star discussed several steps she took to achieve this feat, saying she's acting like a sponge to learn the ropes of the pro ranks.

"Yeah, I just take it day by day," Johnson said. "I think it starts in practice - leaning on my vets, learning new concepts, and continuing to grow."

Johnson also gave credit to Coach White, who always gives her confidence. In return, she gives her full effort whenever she's on the court.

"But honestly, I just do whatever it takes to win," Johnson said. "At the end of the day, I'm going to listen to what Coach Steph wants from me and what she wants me to go out there and do, and then I try to execute it."

Prior to this career night, Johnson's best scoring game was against Portland on May 20, when she scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out one assist in 22 minutes.

This career game could potentially be a breakout performance for Johnson. Currently, the 23-year-old has a season average of 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
