Jaxson Dart Shows Good Leadership In Speech To Giants Teammates
Jaxson Dart had been in a media firestorm over the past week.
The New York Giants quarterback introduced President Trump before a rally in New York last weekend. Dart, who went to school at Ole Miss, said he was privileged and honored to introduce the President of the United States. But not everyone felt the same way. One of his teammates, Abdul Carter, called him out publicly on social media.
Others in the media have been critical of Dart, as well.
"Here is my issue. Jaxson Dart, you know how several of your brothers, your teammates, your friends, your ride or dies, how they might feel about this individual. I don't think there is a lot of wisdom or disarmament in very publicly supporting an individual who many of your teammates felt offended by. So Jaxson Dart, yes, you can do whatever the (heck) you want, but I don't think it's a wise decision without consulting some of your teammates," former NFL player Emmanuel Acho said.
Acho added that Dart's decision was "pretty stupid given the reaction it will cause to his other brothers that are humans and have human emotions. Absolutely, I don't think it was wise."
But Dart has since shown good leadership.
The New York Giants quarterback addressed his teammates in a locker room meeting, taking ownership of what happened.
Dart isn't apologizing for introducing President Trump, but he's letting his teammates know where his head is at - and why he did it.
"Other team leaders spoke up as well, and Dart and the players worked through it. They are moving forward," Mike Garafolo reported.
It's a sign of good leadership and maturity from Dart
Dart is only 23 years old, but it's a sign of good maturity and leadership to address your teammates like this.
NFL locker rooms can put just about everything to the side - politics, religion, women, etc. - in order for a greater goal. But there needs to be mutual respect. Dart is giving that by speaking to his teammates in a private setting, following the controversy.
Dart played well as a rookie in 2025 and his teammates clearly need him heading into 2026. It's good that Dart realized that he needed to take ownership of the situation and address his teammates before something spiraled out of control.
The Giants appear to be fully behind Dart as we head into the 2026 season, which is a good sign for New York.
