Packers' Matt LaFleur Speaks to Media After Josh Jacobs Arrest

The Green Bay Packers officially began OTAs on Tuesday, and later on the same day, star running back Josh Jacobs was arrested after turning himself in to the police.

Jacobs was given five charges, and questions immediately surfaced about his future after the arrest.

The official police report stated that Jacobs was charged with the following: Battery/domestic abuse, Criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, Disorderly conduct/Domestic abuse, Strangulation and suffocation and Intimidation of a victim.

On Wednesday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the media at OTAs, but he didn't speak much about the Jacobs situation in detail.

"I know there's going to be a lot of questions about Josh," LaFleur said. "I'm gonna stick with the statement that we put out as an organization and just let the process play out."

Jacobs' attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, released a statement on Tuesday saying that Jacobs "vehemently denies the allegations.

The Packers also released a statement on Tuesday after the arrest was made, as did the NFL.

"We are aware of the report and have been in contact with the club," the NFL wrote in its statement, via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The Packers were hoping for a big season from Jacobs, so this arrest looms large in many ways for both sides.

Currently, the Packers have MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong Jr. and Chris Brooks as the other RBs on the roster.

But, LaFleur said he feels comfortable with this group.

Lloyd dealt with injuries last season, and Emanuel Wilson was second with 496 rushing yards, but he is now with the Seattle Seahawks.

Lloyd was also the first RB up after Jacobs was arrested, and LaFleur spoke highly about him on Wednesday while speaking to the media.

If Jacobs is suspended, it figures to be Lloyd who handles the bulk of the carries, unless Green Bay adds another player during the summer.

For now, LaFleur and the Packers will let the process play out involving their star running back.
