Analysis:

It was an uncharacteristic down year for the Ravens last season thanks to a handful of major injuries - none bigger than to quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Baltimore finished 8-9 - just its second losing record since 2015, which kickstarted a major offseason shake-up that started with the parting of ways with longtime head coach John Harbaugh, who led the team to a 180-113 record, 12 playoff appearances, and one Super Bowl championship in 18 seasons.

The Ravens continued their tradition of hiring defensive-minded coaches in landing Jesse Minter to succeed Harbaugh, and they seriously upgraded their pass-rush with Pro Bowlers Trey Hendrickson and Calais Campbell, and second-round rookie Zion Young.

With Jackson back healthy, plus the additions of guard Olaivavega Ioane, wide receivers Ja'Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, plus tight ends Matthew Hibner and Josh Cuevas, the offense should be much improved as well.

The Cincinnati Bengals should be better next year with QB Joe Burrow healthy again, and the Pittsburgh Steelers can't be counted out after winning the division last year. But the Ravens should be right in contention for the AFC North and one of the top two seeds in the AFC.
