Anthony Davis' Statement on Austin Reaves, Lakers Leaves Fans Emotional

Austin Reaves still holds a special place in Anthony Davis' heart. The Washington Wizards forward revealed he misses being teammates with Reaves more than anyone else from his Los Angeles Lakers days.

The 33-year-old made the admission on the latest episode of his TBS prank show, "Foul Play With Anthony Davis."

"Out of everybody on the team, I really miss [Austin Reaves]," Davis said. "... That was my guy."

One of the most surprising trades of this generation saw the Mavericks ship Luka Doncic to the Lakers for Davis last year. The three-team deal instantly dissolved the Davis-Reaves tandem.

On X, L.A. fans turned emotional after hearing Davis' statement on Reaves and the Lakers.

"AR really the glue we cannot let him walk," a user wrote.

"We miss AD, not this nonsense ayton is playing ," another said.

"Bring AD back to the Lakers" one added.

"He said 'Our Team'. AD should be Laker again. The paint has never been the same without his defense, folks were literally scared to shoot when he is there" a fan replied.

"@AntDavis23 ask the wizards to buy you out and come back to la on a mid level pls ," suggested another.

"He needs to come backkkkk," a user said.

After suiting up for 29 games across two seasons with the Mavericks, Davis was sent to Washington before the trade deadline. The 10-time All-Star has yet to play a minute for the Wizards, sidelined while rehabbing a hand injury.

Davis won his only NBA title with the Lakers in 2020. Reaves joined the squad a year later as an undrafted free agent. He took the young guard under his wing and helped him navigate the professional ranks. The two developed a connection that only years of shared sacrifices can forge.

The bond has not faded despite the distance. Reaves was Davis' latest target on "Foul Play," where he enlisted Reaves' girlfriend, Jenna Barber, to pull off the prank.

Reaves has come a long way, picking up plenty from Davis during their tenure as teammates.

The 27-year-old enjoyed another strong season with the Lakers. He averaged 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists across 51 regular-season outings despite battling injuries.
