Both Adna and Pe Ell/Willapa Valley headed to Colbert for their 2B State Regional, and both the Pirates and Titans were eliminated by host Northwest Christian.

PWV lost to NW Christian 8-4 in a first-round matchup, and Adna fell to the Crusaders 7-6 in a quarterfinal.

Adna led the game 6-3 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but the next six Crusaders reached base, including an Adna error that could have ended the game at 6-5.

Northwest Christian's Benjo Roth came through with the walk-off single to send the Crusaders through to the semifinals in Selah.

"Simply put, we should be in the Final Four," Adna coach Jack Overbay said. "Bottom 7, two outs, up three runs. Just some untimely mental errors."

The Pirates earned the right to face NWC by beating River View 6-1 in a first-round matchup earlier in the day.

They scored all six of their runs in the second inning, and all six of those runs came across with two outs. The first two scored on an error, Cash Smith hit a two-run double, and Jackson Bright hit a two-run single.

Cameron Nakano threw a complete game, allowing just three hits and one run while walking only one and striking out nine.

Adna finishes its season 21-4 and will graduate two seniors, Nakano and Preston Trodahl.

The Crusaders earned their spots in the quarters by beating PWV 8-4 in its first round game.

The Titans jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring once in the first on an RBI single from Kaeden Blain and twice in the second off an RBI double from Brody Magruder and a passed ball.

NWC responded with five runs in the first, and it led the rest of the way.

"We let one inning get away from us," PWV coach Kent Smaciarz said. "We didn't take care of business the way we should have. But they're a good ball club, and I'm damn proud we hung in there ... I love these dudes. There were no tears at the end, other than me just being happy with everything they did."

The Titans finish their season 16-8, but will not lose any seniors. Everyone is expected back next spring.

"We aren't saying goodbye, just see you all in a few months," Smaciarz said. "This was an unexpected journey. I'm happy to see these guys get over the hump and play meaningful baseball this late in May."
