President Trump's UFC White House Event 'Botches' American Flag
The White House is set to host a major UFC event in Washington, D.C. next month.
The UFC Freedom 250 is set to be held on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C. next month. The event is in honor of America's 250th birthday. Several prominent fights will be taking place as part of the big night.
UFC president Dana White is excited.
"There's a lot of people who hit me up for tickets. We did invites," White told TMZ Sports in New York City. "The president [Donald Trump] has 1,000. I have 200. [TKO CEO] Ari Emanuel has 200. And the rest are all going to the military. Every branch of the military will be represented at the show."
Ahead of the fight, the UFC tweeted out a promotional video. However, there was a pretty glaring error.
UFC botches American flag
The UFC appeared to botch the American flag.
"I don't want to suggest that the fine folks staging the mixed martial arts fight on the White House lawn for the president's birthday are not sticklers for decorum and protocol but their American flag's got 48 stars on it," Doug Landry wrote.
The mistake quickly went viral.
"They're going to fight like it's 1958!" one joked.
"Well, they *are* yearning to take us back to the 1950s, so that fits," one added.
"Not 55? Including Iceland, Greenland, Venezuela, Cuba, Panama?" another joked.
The fight night, meanwhile, will take place in June.
