New York Police Cancel Knicks 'Watch Parties' For Game 3 vs. Cavs

It appears only the authorities can slow down the New York Knicks these days.

The Knicks have won nine straight games since falling down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the opening round of the playoffs. After sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round, they erased a 22-point deficit against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. They backed up that comeback with a 109-93 win in Game 2.

Knicks fans are understandably excited about their team being two wins away from the NBA Finals. Some people, however, have crossed the line with their behavior. With that being said, the New York Police Department is taking a stand before Game 3 begins Saturday night.

According to the New York Post, the NYPD have "pulled the plug" on outdoor watch parties right outside of Madison Square Garden.

"Games 1 and 2 have seen progressively more problematic issues at the watch parties outside MSG - six arrests last night alone - so the NYPD will not support more watch parties outside the stadium," a police department spokesperson told the New York Post.

Knocking on the door of the NBA Finals.

The Knicks have not been to the NBA Finals since 1999. Although there's still more work to do, Mike Brown's squad seems to have what it takes to win a championship. Jalen Brunson is playing at an MVP level, Mikal Bridges has suddenly regained his confidence, and Karl-Anthony Towns has taking his playmaking skills to the next level.

If the Cavaliers want any chance at chipping into the Knicks' series lead, they'll need to slow down Brunson. However, that might not be enough. We've seen Josh Hart, Landry Shamet and others step up this postseason.

We'll see if the Knicks take a commanding 3-0 series lead tonight.
