Caitlin Clark Injury Update: Indiana Fever Star's Official Status After One-Game Absence
Caitlin Clark missed the Indiana Fever's game against the Portland Fire on Wednesday due to a back injury. She was a late scratch for the game after Indiana didn't initially report any injury prior to the contest.
When explaining the decision to rule out Clark, Fever head coach Stephanie White clarified that "she's healthy" and that Clark was sidelined as a precautionary measure.
"She's healthy. We're not managing anything," White told reporters before the Portland game, per Alexa Philippou of ESPN. "This is just a back issue that we want to make sure we give the time to be ready."
That being said, expectations are high that Clark will be able to suit up when the Fever play the Golden State Valkyries on Friday.
Is Caitlin Clark Playing Today?
On the Fever's injury report on Friday, Clark was the only player listed for the team. She's officially labeled as "Probable" due to the same back injury she's dealing with.
A probable designation usually indicates that there's a high likelihood that the player will suit up for the game. That being said, it sure looks like Clark is on track to make a quick return to the Fever lineup.
Clark is averaging 24.3 points on 42.5% shooting, along with 5.0 rebounds, 9.0 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.0 block. Prior to her one-game absence, she was starting to find her groove from deep. The two-time All-Star shot 9-of-21 from the 3-point line in her last two games after going 3-of-16 in the Fever's first two games.
Sure enough, Clark's presence is crucial for the Fever as they try to string wins together. They enter the Valkyries game with a 3-2 record.
