When Is England's World Cup Squad Announcement? Date, Time, and Everything We Know So Far

One of the national teams that is considered a favorite to win the 2026 World Cup is England. They last won it in 1966, but after two consecutive EUROS finals and knockout-stage appearances in the last two World Cups, England appears a strong candidate once again.

England will look to surpass their quarterfinal finish from the 2022 World Cup this summer with a squad that could make a significant impact.

England head coach Thomas Tuchel arrived in January 2025 and has since led them to qualification for the World Cup and coached them during friendly matches in preparation for the World Cup.

Many reports have suggested certain players who will not be included in the official England World Cup squad, but the official squad announcement will be made by Thomas Tuchel at Wembley Stadium on May 22, 2026.

Big names like Harry Maguire, who confirmed he is not in the list, Levi Colwill, Lewis Hall, Luke Shaw, and Cole Palmer are reportedly not included in the final England World Cup squad.

What Time Is the England World Cup Squad Announcement?

The England World Cup squad announcement will start at 9:45 a.m. local time in London, England. For the United States, the announcement will start at 4:45 a.m. ET/ 1:45 a.m. PT.

The announcement will be made through the official England Football App, which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play.

England encourages fans to register and sign in to the app to watch the announcement before anyone else.

Following the announcement, England confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will have a press conference to discuss the list; the press conference will also be shown on the England Football App.

Who Are Left Out Already?

Reporters like Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs have reported several players who are not included in the squad. Three big names that caused a lot of controversy are Harry Maguire, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden.

The first big name that was reported not to be included was Harry Maguire. Ben Jacobs broke the story, and a few hours after his report. Maguire confirmed the story with a statement.

Maguire wrote, "I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I've had. I've been left shocked and gutted by the decision."

The next big names who are reportedly left out of the England World Cup squad are Phil Foden and Cole Palmer. There has been no statement from either player.
