NFL Fans Trolling Cam Skattebo's Ridiculous Claim For 2026 Season

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo emerged as a fan favorite as a rookie for his aggressive running style and effectiveness. But after being limited to just eight games in 2025, he has a much bigger goal for 2026.

Speaking to the media this week, the Giants running back announced that he intends to be ready for Week 1 after missing the second half of last season with a broken leg. he then predicted that if he can play a full 17-game season and get 300 carries he will rush for over 2,000 yards.

"Obviously, there's ups and downs in the injury process and coming back and rehabbing, but the mental battle has been the hardest part: making sure that I trust it fully," Skattebo said, via The Associated Press. "I'm a little ways out. Not too far, but I'll be ready to go. Week 1, I'll be ready to go."

"I do not consider that successful for me," Skattebo said. "I had 400 yards on 100 carries. When I play 17-plus games this year, it's going to be 300 carries for over 2,000 yards."

The Trolls Come to Feed

As you might imagine there's a bit of an issue with the math there. While 300 carries and over 2,000 yards are admirable goals to strive for, that would require one of the best seasons in NFL history - right off a broken leg.

But some fans decided to rake Skattebo over the coals for his math, with some joking that he might have a serious brain injury already.

"You can smell the CTE on his breath when he talks," one user on X mocked.

"When a kid runs padless into telephone poles grows up and tries math," wrote another.

"This Mensa member is rapidly climbing my list of least favorite NFL players," a third wrote.

"The math isn't mathing, Cam."

However, it's also worth pointing out that Skattebo wasn't trying to do a math equation there. He was simply stating that if he can get over 300 carries in a year, he can probably get over 2,000 yards (which is historically around the minimum number of carries a running back needs to reach that mark).

In fairness, Adrian Peterson famously did it for the Vikings in 2012 right after an injury destroyed his leg. But most reasonable people would agree that Skattebo is no Adrian Peterson.

Can Skattebo play all 17 games and become the next 2,000-yard rusher?
