Baylor Standout Cameron Carr Projected to Land With Championship NBA Team

Now that the 2026 NBA Combine wrapped up, scouts know what to expect, for the most part, from the college players heading into the NBA draft.

Baylor is a school with a strong basketball legacy, so it’s no surprise that one of their standout players is being projected to go inside the top 20 of the NBA draft.

That player is rising guard Cameron Carr.

In a mock draft from NBC Sports published on Monday, May 18, Raphielle Johnson and Kurt Helin have Carr going at No. 17 in the draft to the championship-winning Oklahoma City Thunder. It’s worth noting that the next big date on the schedule is May 27, which is the withdrawal deadline day for college athletes who want to retain their eligibility.

“Carr was one of the standouts at the NBA Draft Combine, showing off a 42.5-inch vertical leap and finishing near the top of the class in all the agility drills,” Helin states of the player. “Then he went out and dropped 30 in the second scrimmage he participated in. He showed he can get a bucket in college; combine that with his athleticism and he would fit in just fine with the Thunder guard rotation.”

My Take: What Makes Cameron Carr Stand Out?

There are plenty of talented players in the 2026 NBA draft, but one thing that makes Carr stand out is his ability to guard multiple positions and, at the same time, be an explosive three-point shooter. He shoots around 40% from three-point range, and that means something in the NBA. Carr also shows a maturity that few payers of his age, at 21, have, making this a solid pick for the Thunder.
