Makenzie Henthorn named back-to-back league MVP

Mark Morris senior ace Makenzie Henthorn has been named the 2A Greater St. Helens League softball MVP for the second year in a row.

In 102 1/3 innings pitched so far, Henthorn has struck out 225 batters and surrendered just 24 hits and three earned runs. She also has an absurd 0.205 ERA. At the plate, the senior has tallied 23 hits and 25 RBIs with six doubles, two triples, and four home runs.

Henthorn is joined by teammates Paisley Fraidenburg, Shyanne Sellers, Megan Fugleberg, and Keira McGinley, who were all selected to the all-league first team.

Fraidenburg has tallied 42 hits, including nine doubles, three triples, and five homers, and 34 RBIs while recording a 0.600 batting average. Sellers has rallied together 31 hits, including 10 doubles, four triples, and three home runs, and 34 RBIs while batting 0.534.

Fugleberg has notched 31 hits, including 10 doubles, a triple, five home runs, and 25 RBIs. McGinley has registered 27 hits and 28 RBIs with seven doubles, a triple, and six home runs while batting 0.509.

In addition, freshmen Taylor Lee and Shailia Wild earned second-team honors. Lee has tallied 33 hits and 32 RBIs with 10 doubles, three triples, and three home runs while batting 0.589. Wild has registered 21 hits, including six doubles, two triples, and two home runs, and 11 RBIs.

The bevy of Monarchs helped the team win both the league and district championships and earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming state tournament.

For R.A. Long, both Malia Byrnes and Audrina Solano were selected to the second team. Byrnes tallied 17 hits, including four doubles, and 11 RBIs while Solano notched 15 hits, with a double and a triple, and 10 RBIs.

The duo led the Jills to a 7-15 overall record with a 5-9 mark in league play. R.A. Long beat Hockinson in the tie-breaker game to earn the No. 5 seed, but its season came to an end in the district tournament.

Jolie Oathes earned a spot on the first team for Woodland. The senior recorded 31 hits and 32 RBIs with seven doubles, one triple, and seven home runs.

Her teammates Addi Christensen and Madi Walker and earned second-team honors. Christensen registered 34 hits and 38 RBIs with 14 doubles, one triple, and three home runs. The senior also pitched for 84 1/3 innings and struck out 67 batters. Walker had 32 hits, including eight doubles, two triples, and a home run, and 14 RBIs.

The trio of Beavers led the squad to a 12-11 overall record with an 8-6 mark in league play, finishing fourth. Woodland's season came to an end in the district tournament.
