Chris Paul ‘Not Worried' About Victor Wembanyama's NBA Longevity

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama delivered a historic playoff performance on Monday night, recording 41 points and 24 rebounds in a double-overtime victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

This performance sparked conversations regarding Wembanyama’s potential NBA legacy, which could ultimately cement him among the all-time greats if he’s able to stay healthy.

Lengthy NBA careers are uncommon for players of Wembanyama’s size - but the 7-foot-4 Frenchman is like nothing the NBA has ever seen.

Chris Paul, Wembanyama’s former San Antonio teammate, discussed his outlook for the 22-year-old superstar during a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“I’m honestly not worried about Vic playing for a long time in the league because of his preparation,” Paul said. “The way he works, the way he trains. All those little details, he’s that competitive.”

Wembanyama played nearly 49 minutes in Monday night’s Game 1 victory. Only two players played more minutes in the double-overtime contest: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Devin Vassell.

“The first thing is physical ability - getting stronger as the years go on. And the mental toughness. You have to have it all the time,” Wembanyama said after the Spurs’ Game 1 win.

“Yes it takes a toll, but we will rest in July,” he added.
