Wendy's Proposes Name Change in Honor of Victor Wembanyama
Victor Wembanyama didn’t get MVP this year, but you’d never know it from the buzz going around about his performance in Game 1, where the San Antonio Spurs pulled off a double overtime victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, 122-115.
In that Western Conference Finals Game 1 matchup, Wembanyama posted 41 points, 24 rebounds, three blocks, three assists and one steal in 49 minutes of playing time. During the game, he also surpassed the great Lew Alcindor as the youngest player with 40 points and 20 rebounds in a playoff game.
Now, Wembanyama is so hot that Wendy’s is proposing a name change in honor of the player. Well, we don’t think Wendy’s is serious about it, but they’re having a lot of fun with the idea on social media.
Wendy's Posts on X About a Possible Name Change to Honor Victor Wembanyama
On Tuesday, May 19, Wendy’s took to social media to state, “Might change my name to Wemby’s and only serve French fries after last night’s game.”
The reference is to both Wembanyama’s name and that he’s French, of course.

Followers reacted as they often do to Wendy’s social posts. The fast-food chain has really become better known for its social media posts than its burgers lately.
“Wemby fries combo. Does it come with a frosty?” one said.
“Honestly wouldn't even be upset about that,” another added.
