Colin Cowherd Savagely Roasted Over Wild Caitlin Clark Criticism

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA, but there are still some out there who question whether she deserves the notoriety she gets.

FS1's Colin Cowherd is one of them.

The polarizing Cowherd recently criticized Clark over the fact that she hasn't wont a WNBA championship in the … two seasons and four games she's played in her WNBA career.

"[Year 1] rookie sensation, Year 2, last year, she's hurt," Cowherd said. "Year 3, OK, her stats are great again - when is she going to start winning at the next level? She has not won a playoff series yet. So, my take is she has her Pippen. Kelsey Mitchell is a player that got some MVP votes (last year). And this is not hating on Caitlin Clark, but the stage of, ‘Wow, who's the new kid?' I'm done with that.

"… This is great, I've seen the stats. She shoots from a long way away from the basket, that is awesome, but there are stages to greatness, and I've always felt she has a chance to be Jordan-esque, which is multiple championships if she can get the right coach and the right running-mate. And I think she has that player, but she hasn't even won a playoff game. … This team should vie for the championship, if she is what I think she is."

Cowherd's remarks stirred up a social media firestorm, with several fans pointing out the obvious - expecting Clark to win a title in a season-and-a-half is quite an unreasonable demand.

"When's she gonna win a playoff series?! She's in her 3rd year and was hurt last year 🤦‍♂️," one fan replied.

"Colin Cowherd has officially entered his Skip Bayless arc. Find the top athlete at their sport and hate on them early no matter what happens," another fan pointed out.

"Are we serious rn? With that logic Mike Trout is one of the most overrated players in MLB history. Just pure idiocy please take his mic," scoffed a third fan.

"Terrible take. This reminds me of him calling Ben Simmons the next evolution of LeBron. 😆," one user quipped.

"2 years in the league and it's ‘when is she gonna start winning?' what a [expletive] moron," jabbed another user.

"This is her second season lol [expletive idiot. She played 12 games last year," snarked another user.

"Coward is a joke she literally has had one full year . insane people listen to him," one fan mocked.

"What a moronic ignorant comment from one of the biggest [expletives] in media," another user stated.

The Fever are just 2-2 through the first four games of the 2026 season.

The team is loaded with talent beyond Clark - Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham, Monique Billings - and with former WNBA Coach of the Year Stephanie White calling the shots, many expect the Fever to compete for a championship this year with a healthy Clark.
