Caitlin Clark Distracted by Puppies in Latest Interview
Caitlin Clark ascended to superstardom by shooting threes from the moon and leading the Iowa Hawkeyes on a magical NCAA Tournament run in 2023. In the three years since, Clark has been asked every question imaginable, and she never gets bumped off her mark during media scrums or press conferences.
Reporters might want to start bringing puppies to Clark’s media availability.
On Monday evening, the Indiana Fever posted Clark’s exclusive “The Puppy Room Interview,” in which Clark has five painfully cute puppies perched on her lap while answering miscellaneous questions. Clark tried to answer a question about her favorite midnight snack - “a warm chocolate chip cookie with a glass of milk” - but a puppy kept nipping at her hair.
“You guys don’t understand,” the two-time All-Star guard said. “I can’t multitask, so you are really challenging me right now.”
Nevertheless, Clark persisted. She shared that a hot dog is not a sandwich and that her “biggest regret in life” is giving up on playing the piano. “I wanted to learn how to play again, but I think I’m gonna need to wait until I retire,” she said.
Clark just started her third WNBA season, so any thought of becoming a pianist in retirement is a far-off fantasy at this point.
The Fever drafted Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She took the league by storm, winning Rookie of the Year, leading the league in assists, and earning All-Rookie and All-WNBA honors. Clark missed all but 13 games last season due to groin and quad injuries, but she was still named an All-Star.
So far this season, Clark is averaging 24.3 points - tied for fifth in the league - nine assists, and five rebounds in 30.8 minutes across four games. The Fever are 2-2 and will next host the Portland Fire on Wednesday night.
