Community Sports: Vancouver Lake Rowing Club wins team points honor at regional event on Vancouver Lake
May 18-The Vancouver Lake Rowing Club captured the Sculling Team Points Award, besting top regional clubs like Pocock Youth Rowing of Seattle and Oregon Rowing Unlimited of Portland, last weekend at the 2026 USRowing Northwest Youth Championships at Vancouver Lake Regional Park.
VLRC medaled in 17 A finals, winning five gold medals, five silver medals and seven bronze medals. Additional medals were awarded based on time-trial results for Novice and U15 races that were canceled Saturday due to lightning in the area.
Two boats stood out by sweeping double podium finishes. The men's U15 4x+ and men's U15 2x each entered A and B boats with both entries in each event placing on the podium.
The collective effort of all 50 VLRC athletes contributed to the Sculling Team Points victory, a points-based award that rewards clubs with broad, competitive participation across sculling disciplines.
VLRC qualified 32 rowers for the USRowing Youth National Championships June 11-14 in Sarasota, Fla.
The regional championships drew 28 youth and scholastic rowing clubs from Bellingham to Ashland, Ore. VLRC entered 50 athletes across 36 boats in 28 events, making it one of the largest club presences at the regatta.
