Ketlen Vieira decisions Jacqueline Cavalcanti at UFC Vegas 117

The UFC Vegas 117 fight card featured a women's bantamweight bout between contenders No. 5 ranked Ketlen Vieira and No. 11 ranked Jaqueline Cavalcanti.

Vieira entered the fight coming off a split decision loss to Norma Dumont looking to get back in the win column. Cavalcanti made the walk to the octagon at the Meta Apex riding an eight-fight winning streak and looking pick up the biggest win over her career.

Cavalcanti took the center of the cage. She inched forward and delivered a leg kick. Vieira answered with a jab to the head and then body. Cavalcanti continued to utilize leg kicks. Vieira slid in the picket with a right hand. Cavalcanti began mixing in teep kicks. The pace picked up in the final seconds. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Vieira, but it was a competitive round.

Cavalcanti began the second round by delivering two leg kicks. Vieira closed the distance and clinched. She delivered needs to the legs of Cavalcanti along the cage. Vieira secured a single-leg takedown and worked inside Cavalcanti's closed guard. Vieira delivered punches while Cavalcanti threw strikes off her back. Vieira maintained top control to took the round.

They exchanged jabs to start the third. Cavalcanti connected with a combination. She pressured Vieira while continuing to invest in leg kicks. Vieira's jab began finding a home. Cavalcanti responded with a right hand. She connected with a combination. Cavalcanti turned the pressure up and landed as Vieira moved on the outside. Cavalcanti landed a right hand at the bell. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Cavalcanti.

The judges scored the fight for Viera via unanimous decision. All three scorecards read 29-28.
