Tiger Woods Still Has 2027 Ryder Cup Offer After DUI Arrest

We haven't heard from Tiger Woods since he announced that he would be seeking treatment following his DUI arrest in Jupiter Island, Florida back in March.

"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today," the 15-time major champion said in a statement posted to his social media accounts. "I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.

"I'm committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."

But many in the golf world have wondered when Woods, who last played "competitively" at a The Golf League event in March, will return.

Tiger Woods was viewed by many as a potential assistant captain for the United States' 2027 Ryder Cup team.

It sounds like he still has an offer to be on the squad, despite his DUI arrest.

Woods' offer for 2027 Ryder Cup stands

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk confirmed that he will still offer a spot to Woods, despite his arrest.

"We haven't spoken yet. I think, out of kind of courtesy for him and his family and I know maybe a road to health, I haven't reached out, but I will," Furyk explained before the PGA Championship.

"Definitely. We'll see where that role may fall," Furyk said when asked if the offer to Woods still stands. "I will say I enjoyed serving – I use that word serving – as a vice-captain with him a number of times. I think he brought a lot to the team room and a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience."

Woods reportedly declined the opportunity to be captain of the U.S. squad following the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Now, he could land as a vice captain, despite his arrest.
