Indiana Fever Have Plans for Lexie Hull After Return From Injury
Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White will not force the issue with Lexie Hull.
The Fever plan to exercise patience with the 26-year-old guard, who missed all three preseason games due to hamstring tightness.
Hull returned in Indiana's 107-104 season opener loss to the Dallas Wings. She understandably looked rusty, going scoreless in 15 minutes on 0-of-2 shooting.
White shared her minutes plan for the veteran guard postgame.
"Yeah, I think it was 10 to 15 or something that Lexie had," she told reporters during practice on Monday. "So we don't want to push it. We want to make sure that we're ready and healthy."
Hull has been a mainstay with the Fever since Indiana drafted her sixth overall in 2022. The fifth-year guard posted career highs across the board last season.
She averaged 7.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 3-pointers per contest. Hull started all 44 regular-season games. She elevated further in the postseason. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 10.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 3-pointers over eight playoff games.
The Fever were injury-decimated last year, but Hull stepped up. Indiana rewarded her with a two-year, $1.56 million extension this offseason.
She started slow against Dallas after missing the entire preseason. White does not appear concerned. The veteran coach is confident Hull will rediscover her form.
"As our players get back, I think we have four or five players on minutes restrictions," she said. "So as we start to get back and really solidify our rotations, it'll be helpful."
